Who we are
HEART Humanitarian Foundation is a nonprofit corporation formed in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and recognised by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt public charity.
HEART stands for Health, Education, Aid & Relief Trust. Those four words describe what we fund: access to health care, continuity of education, material aid, and relief for families in acute crisis.
Our purpose
This is the charitable purpose as filed with the Pennsylvania Department of State, word for word:
“To provide humanitarian aid, health-related access support, and educational assistance to Palestinian communities in Gaza and the West Bank, and other underserved populations globally, fostering resilience and sustainable development.”
How we work
Sanctions and lawful giving
HEART Humanitarian Foundation is a United States charity and is bound by United States sanctions law. We screen beneficiaries and will not transfer funds where doing so would breach sanctions administered by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) or any other applicable restriction. Where a licence or other lawful basis is required before funds can move, we obtain it or we do not proceed.
Who runs HEART
HEART is directed by its board, who are responsible for its charitable purpose, its finances and its conduct. As a nonstock corporation the charity has no members and no shareholders: nobody owns it, and no individual can take profit from it.

We publish our registration details in full so that anyone can verify them independently. You can confirm our tax-exempt status directly with the IRS using our EIN at irs.gov.

The photographs of Gaza on our home page are published under open licences, and each is credited to the person who took it. We have made them smaller so the page opens quickly on a phone. Nothing else about them has been changed: nothing is cropped, re-framed or retouched.

Photographs a family sends with an application are a separate matter, and are governed by consent: nothing is published unless the family has agreed to it, and they may withdraw that agreement at any time. Our Privacy Policy sets out how that works.
